ASU a hub for international students amid pandemic challenges

Ranked No. 1 public university by global students

Arizona State University is well known for being named the most innovative university in the U.S., but it’s beginning to be known for something a bit more global.

The Tempe-based university recently was ranked the top public university of choice for international students, according to the 2021 Institute of International Education Open Doors Report. ASU was named ahead of institutions such as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; University of California, San Diego; Purdue University; and UCLA, to name just a few.

As of the 2020-21 academic year, ASU hosted more than 13,015 international students from more than 136 different countries, either on campus or through its robust online degree offerings, according to data from the university.
