Aspiring actor in the house? What Valley parents need to know

OPINION — When a child first says they want to pursue acting, parents often feel a mix of excitement, pride and uncertainty. Acting can be a meaningful creative outlet that builds confidence and communication skills, but the entertainment industry can also feel overwhelming — especially for families who don’t live in or near Hollywood.

As both a parent of a young aspiring actress and the founder of a nonprofit focused on expanding access to professional, age-appropriate acting education, I’ve learned that the most important thing parents can do is slow down, stay informed and focus on what truly supports their child’s development.
