As many Arizonans lose Medicaid coverage, Phoenix commission fears impact for the disabled

More than 200,000 removed from AHCCCS rolls so far

The Phoenix Mayor’s Commission on Disability Issues is spreading the word to warn Arizonans they might be falling off the state’s Medicaid rolls or might have already lost their insurance.

That loss of insurance can be especially problematic for those with disabilities.

“Especially if you have a disability or chronic illness, you want to make sure you don’t go for a long period without insurance — or for any period, ideally,” said Meaghan Kramer, vice chair of the commission and a staff attorney at the Arizona Center for Disability Law.
