Arthur C. Vasconcellos

SUN CITY WEST - Arthur C. Vasconcellos, 82, of Sun City West, passed away on Nov. 2, 2010. He was born Sept. 13, 1928, in Fall River, Mass., to Antonio and Margaret Vasconcellos. A Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jean; six children, Barbara (William) Schmidt, Ronald (Carol) McCary, Teresa Stein, Dana (William) Fuchs, Arthur C. (Lani) Vasconcellos, Jr., and Christy Vasconcellos; 11 grandchildren, Shawn, Heather, Shannon, Michael, Jennifer, Danny, Matthew, Nicholas, Marcus, Thomas, and Joshua; 15 great-grandchildren, many dear nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets Hannah and Poppy. Arthur was a Civil Engineer for the Department of Interior National Park Service for 35+ years before retiring and later moving to Arizona. He was a very talented man who could make anything with his hands. His many hobbies and joys included a love of sewing picked up from his mom, a professional seamstress; designing and building one of his homes in Colorado, and working with stained glass. Art and Jean met at the roller skating rink spending many happy evenings dancing on wheels. In retirement, they kept dancing when they joined the Sun City Westernaires, a square dancing club. Arthur was a dear man and will continue to be in our thoughts. There was a Funeral Service held Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at 11 a.m.. The night before, on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, there was a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Services are entrusted to Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 623-933-0161.
