The 6th Annual Art of the Cowgirl gathering is returning to Queen Creek.
The event to celebrate women’s contributions to Western lifestyle and to showcase the best of female artistry, craftsmanship and horsemanship goes from Wednesday, Jan. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 21 at the Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, 20464 E. Riggs Road.
Throughout the five-day event, guests can expect 18 different hands-on workshops, a curated artisan trade show featuring 80 vendors from across the country, the All Women’s Ranch Rodeo presented by COWGIRL Magazine, the Kimes Ranch World’s Greatest Horsewoman competitions, educational clinics for all ages, live performances by country artists, a variety of food and beverage vendors and more.
On the evening of Jan. 18 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Art of the Cowgirl will host a ticketed Cowgirl Fiesta Mexican dinner.
Organizers would like to pay special recognition to Tammy Pate, the founder of Art of the Cowgirl, as she lost her battle with cancer just last month. To her, Art of the Cowgirl was a treasured space that fostered future female talent and artistic growth, a press release notes.
“No matter one’s background or experience level, Art of the Cowgirl welcomes all who appreciate the Western lifestyle and provides an empowering space for women to connect with each other and Western culture,” Pate had stated.
At the heart of Art of the Cowgirl is the fellowship program, which pairs emerging female artisans across various trades and mediums with masters in their fields to hone and perfect their skillset. The fellowship program encompasses a diverse array of traditional Western trades.
After studying under their mentor, fellowship recipients are given the opportunity to share their experience during an Art of the Cowgirl event, as well as display and garner crucial exposure for the items and skills created during their fellowship.
“The fellowship program is so special in that it removes barriers to entry that might keep a person from being able to pursue learning a craft,” Mesa Pate, Art of the Cowgirl horse sale director, stated. “We want to perpetuate these valuable, skilled trades, and make it accessible for any woman to learn and have her work be given a platform.”
A five-day pass for Art of the Cowgirl is $195. Add-on passes to attend the Cowgirl Fiesta dinner and dance on Jan. 18 are $55 (pass includes a catered meal and drinks.) Single-day passes are $55.
