SUN CITY - Arnet "Art" E. Craven passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2013. Art was born in Holly, Colo. in July 1923 to Calvin and Francis Craven. He met the love of his life Carolyn in Holly and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage. After high school he enlisted with the USMC. Art saw combat on Guadalcanal where he was injured by shrapnel, receiving the Purple Heart. After the war Art and Carolyn returned to Colorado where he earned his degree in Business in just three years. In Holly he managed a Ford dealership for many years. Later on he returned to Denver where he was a traveling salesman for Gate City Steel for 28 years before he retired. Art and Carolyn were sunbirds, enjoying the winters in Sun City before permanently calling it home in the late 1990s. They were members of the Methodist Church and enjoyed their time together with family and friends. Art enjoyed golfing and felt closest to God while fly fishing in the streams. He also liked bowling, and played his saxophone all throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; children, Linda, Bradley, and Janelle; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of his Life will be held in Colorado at Crown Hill Cemetery and Funeral Home where he will be laid to rest with military honors. Visitation will be at Olinger Crown Hill Funeral Home in Denver on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m., with the funeral Monday at Noon. He will be laid to rest with military honors.
