PEORIA - Armitta Ruth Medill passed away Sept. 6, 2016. She was born on April 25, 1923 in Pueblo to William Paul and Marguerite B. Cremean. Ruth held many interesting jobs including newspaper reporter, real estate agent, insurance agent and homemaker. During WWII, she was a "Rosie the Riveter" working in San Diego, Calif., installing windows in the bombers. She married Earl Ralph Medill on Oct. 26, 1941. She was a member of Eastern Star, Chapter #7, American Legion Auxiliary, Post 115, Fairway China Club, Rye Home United Methodist Church and affiliate member of First United Methodist Church in Sun City. She enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, sewing and reading. She was also a very accomplished artist, having won many awards for her china painting, including State Fair Grand Champion. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Earl, in 1998. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Jerry) Holiday, of Madera, Calif., and Esther (James) Spradlin, of Dewey; her grandchildren, Doug (Leslie) Holiday, Derek(Sarah) Holiday, James, Jr. (Rhonda) Spradlin, Mathew (Annette) Spradlin; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest next to Earl in the Brookside Cemetery in Rye, Colo. Graveside services are pending.
