OPINION — I believe the Empowerment Scholarship Accounts program in its current form is poorly designed and managed. Here’s why:
• The fact that this ESA program alone has financially crippled Arizona educational funding and created such a deficit for the Arizona budget overall.
• The fact that a huge number of abusers of this program are in no way needing state money to make purchases and fill the pockets of a few very powerful and well-connected charter school owners and managers who have been made rich at the expense by of our tax dollars.
