Arizonans need immigration reform, not more detention centers

OPINION — The debate over the proposed ICE detention facility in Surprise has drawn large crowds and passionate opinions at recent City Council meetings.

I have attended the past three meetings. Hundreds of residents have shown up to speak during public comment.

I oppose the facility — not because I support open borders, but because I believe our current immigration policy is fundamentally broken.
