PHOENIX — Arizona voters picked and chose their way through eight ballot measures, approving most of those put on the ballot by Republican lawmakers even as they wrested control of the House and Senate from them.
One high-profile measure that gained wide approval spells out in statute that schools cannot allow students to use a restroom, locker room, shower or other private space not designated for their biological sex. And Proposition 318 defines that as “recorded at birth on the individual’s original birth certificate.”
It was dubbed by sponsors as the “Protect Girls Sports in Arizona Act.”
