A 21-year-old Phoenix man has been arrested after a state trooper found more than 100 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills concealed in a truck, authorities said Monday.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper stopped the driver of a Chevrolet pickup on April 13 for non-moving violations along eastbound Interstate 8 in Wellton, according to a DPS release.
The trooper noted “indicators of criminal activity” during the stop, and a drug detection canine was used. During a search, DPS officials said, troopers discovered about 109 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills concealed within the vehicle.
Juan Jose Rivera Jr., 21, of Phoenix was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Jail on charges including possession and transportation of a narcotic drug for sale, according to DPS.
