Arizona has topped 13,000 cases of COVID-19, according to the state Department of Health Services.

As of Friday morning, there are 13,169 cases and 651 deaths, up 495 and 27 from Thursday, respectively.

Using 2019 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of cases per 100,000 residents in Arizona is 180.9. In Maricopa County, it's 152.1

According to the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, there are 6,681 positive cases and 291 deaths.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.

Arizona's stay-at-home order expires after Friday, though the state will be under Gov. Doug Ducey's new executive order "Stay Healthy, Return Smarter, Return Stronger."

Theaters will be allowed to reopen Saturday, May 16. Other businesses, like gyms, barbershops, salons, spas, pools and in-dining restaurants, have already reopened.
