Arizona is knocking on the door of becoming one of the top 10 sports betting states in the country as it prepares to become the first state where sports gambling is legal to host a Super Bowl, one of the biggest betting events of the year.
“We’re really close (to cracking the top 10),” said Max Hartgraves, spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Gaming. “Tennessee has us beat, but I think we’re gonna catch them soon just based on the level of wagering we’ve seen here compared to Tennessee.”
The top 10 list, according to Legal Sports Report, ranges from first-place New Jersey, where gamblers have wagered $33.7 billion, to 10th-place Tennessee at $6.9 billion. Arizona sits at 11th with about $6.6 billion wagered through October 2022.
