The Town of Paradise Valley is likely to contribute $50,000 to the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee for the 2023 national championship game to be held in Glendale, although some stipulations come with the pledge.
Super Bowl Host Committee representatives were a part of a recent Paradise Valley Town Council meeting, where they shed light on the arduous effort to raise $50 million from private and public donors to fulfill its bid to host Super Bowl LVII. The $50 million threshold is roughly 20% of what it takes to put on the Super Bowl, committee officials say, and the money will go to vendors — such as security or accommodations — not the National Football League.
The Host Committee asked Valley municipalities to contribute funding needed to put on the NFL’s championship game. Scottsdale already pledged to contribute $1.2 million; meanwhile Paradise Valley is being asked to contribute $341,959. However, Town Council has only given support to $50,000, no more than 60 days prior to the Super Bowl game to “ensure the game is not relocated or canceled.”
