Arizona State University annual safety report shows uptick in crime across campuses

Federal Clery Act requires annual statistical crime report

In Arizona State University’s most recently published Security and Fire Report, data showed an increase in crimes in 2019 in comparison to previous years.

According to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, or more commonly known as the Clery Act, it requires that universities are transparent about how many crimes are reported and what is being done to aid in reducing criminal activity at colleges throughout the country.

As outlined in the report published in 2020, ASU employs police presence at eight locations in Arizona and at satellite campuses in California and Washington, D.C.
