Arizona schools have new rules for 9/11, Sandra Day O’Connor instruction

The Arizona Legislature in its last session set forth new requirements for public schools regarding 9/11 Education Day and Sandra Day O’Connor Civics Celebration Day.

These are not legal holidays, but observed days for students to learn about 9/11 and O’Connor, the first woman U.S. Supreme Court justice. O’Connor grew up in Arizona and called the state home most of her life, leaving her legacy as a highly influential figure in the state’s politics and law.

The law says Arizona schools must incorporate instruction on the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, as well as content related to Sandra Day O’Connor Civics Celebration Day.
