Arizona school districts join class action vape lawsuit

After initial consideration, Peoria Unified will not join

Peoria Unified School District was considering joining a class action lawsuit against the e-cigarette company Juul.

District officials said vaping has been detrimental to the district in the form of, not so much monetary loss, but a significant amount of time lost in the classroom and an unknown health risk to young people.

“If you ask principals, assistant principals, teachers, parents across our district, this is one of the most detrimental activities for our youth today, and we would accept any resources we can to find the capacity to be able to work with our schools and our students so we can work with parents to work with their children to make sure they are making a different choice,” said Superintendent Jason Reynolds.
