Arizona officials confident about mail-in ballots

September marks the run-up to the presidential election, and state and local officials are urging Arizonans to get ready to vote.

By mid-month, the first absentee ballots will go out to deployed military personnel and voters staying overseas while general mail-in ballots will be mailed on Oct. 7, two days after the Monday, Oct. 5 deadline to register for the November election.

Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes said voters should plan to mail their ballots back at least a week ahead.
