Arizona minimum wage set for another boost in January as inflation rises

PHOENIX — Workers at the bottom of the pay scale in Arizona are going to get a bump in pay in January.

New figures Friday from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that consumer prices rose 0.4% in August. That puts the annual change at 3.4%.

What makes that significant is that a 2006 voter-approved law requires the state minimum wage to increase each year based on those August-over-August figures. That translates out to 51.5 cents on the current $15.15 minimum.
