Arizona leaders push for funding of Phoenix-Tucson Amtrak line

Line would include stops in Buckeye, Goodyear, Tempe and Queen Creek

Arizona government and business leaders joined Amtrak officials in a virtual roundtable Tuesday encouraging Congress to fund a new passenger rail line connecting Phoenix to Tucson.

The proposed line also would include stops in Buckeye, Goodyear/Avondale, Tempe, Queen Creek, Coolidge and Marana.

It would be the first time Phoenix and Tucson, the two largest metropolitan areas in the states, have been connected by passenger rail since the mid-1990s.
