Arizona leaders excited about future of chips

The recent announcement of the millions being earmarked for the Arizona’s semiconductor industry should help make the U.S. less vulnerable when it comes to national security, a local leader said.

Steve Zylstra, CEO for the Arizona Technology Council, said focus on semiconductor chip manufacturing in the state helps local businesses such as Honeywell Aerospace have immediate access to the commodity.

Guns, military aircraft and other tools the armed forces use — all may use computer chips.
