The Arizona Chapter of the Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation will hold its 18th annual Arizona Golf Tournament on Friday, June 9 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale.
Additionally, as a prelude to the tournament, MC-LEF will host a Gathering of Heroes featuring Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients on Thursday, June 8 at American Legion Post 34 in Cave Creek with special musical guest, Josh Scott.
The MC-LEF golf tournament is the Arizona chapter’s main fundraising event for the foundation’s mission of “educating the children of those who have sacrificed all.”
This tournament raises educational funding for children of fallen service members of the Marine Corps and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. Since MC-LEF’s genesis, the foundation has raised over $90 million nationally and $1.9 million in Arizona.
The entry fee for golfers is $500 and golfers can register on the MC-LEF website.
Ahead of the event, on June 8, MC-LEF will host its annual Gathering of Heroes reception to honor Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, followed by an open-house style reception and concert. This event will be open to the public and cost $20 which includes a meal ticket.
Arizona native country singer Josh Scott will be headlining the Gathering of Heroes this year. His song “That Bottle” was voted Song of the Year by iHeart Radio’s 2021 Jack Daniel’s Battle of the Bar Bands contest.
Bob Jenkins, former Marine Corps sergeant and MC-LEF committee member stated, “We are excited to unite the veteran and Phoenix communities for this exciting two-day event for such a worthy cause — the children of those who have given everything in service of our country. As a chapter, we are incredibly grateful for those who have contributed to the success of our previous golf tournaments and we look forward to honoring those who have given so much to protect the liberties this country affords us.”
All proceeds from these events will directly fund the mission of MC-LEF to provide each child of a fallen member of the Marine Corps or any Federal Law Enforcement Agency with a $35,000 educational fund. Last year’s tournament generated over $60,000 toward the cause, and the foundation is confident that this year’s tournament can support even more Arizona families.
