Arizona not among tops when it comes to best states for military retirees
Posted
When it comes to great places for military retirees, Arizona is middle of the pack, in large part because of the health care.
A report from financial website WalletHub, Arizona ranked No. 16 among the best states for military retirees in relation to economic environment, quality of life and health care.
While Arizona ranked No. 13 for economic environment and No. 9 for quality of life, it ranked No. 43 for health care.
With several military bases, including Luke Air Force Base in the West Valley, the region and state have long been considered a landing spot for military retirees. About 500,000 military retirees call the state home, based on U.S. Census numbers.
Virginia, Florida and Minnesota were tops on the list for the best states, while the bottom of the list featured Oregon, the District of Columbia, Nevada and Vermont.
