Despite the images, storylines and exciting spectacles playing on screens both large and small, the vast majority of 911 calls are emergency medical situations.
But a part of these emergency medical situations, one Arizona lawmaker contends, is missing a key ingredient: oversight of emergency medical personnel making — in some cases — dire diagnoses in local living rooms outside their purview.
Dr. Amish Shaw, a Democrat who represents District 24 at the Arizona Legislature, is championing House Bill 2431 at the capitol, which among other things, forbids a medical diagnosis to come from a paramedic, EMS or otherwise.
