Arizona governor: Hobbs clings to lead against Lake as race tightens

PHOENIX — Democrat Katie Hobbs continued to hold a lead over Republican Kari Lake early Wednesday morning, but the margin tightened as more votes were tallied.

With 91 percent of precincts reporting, Hobbs had 50.9% of the votes compared with 49.1% for Lake.

The outcome of the hotly contested race for governor could turn on the question of whether it was a good idea politically for Hobbs to refuse to debate her Republican foe.
