Arizona Golden Rescue, an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is providing holiday gift-wrapping for donations at Floor & Decor at the Prasada, 13230 N. Prasada Parkway. They also plan to have handmade craft merchandise for sale.

Dates and times are: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, Saturday, Dec. 16, Sunday, Dec. 17, Friday, Dec. 22, and Saturday, Dec. 23.

The mission of Arizona Golden Rescue is to rescue displaced Golden Retrievers, Golden Doodles and mostly Golden Retriever mixes that may have been abused, abandoned, neglected, unwanted or surrendered by their owners due to previously unforeseen circumstances and to find new, permanent homes for them.

Rescued dogs are given a complete veterinary exam and their vaccines are updated. They are also microchipped, spayed or neutered and tested for valley fever and heartworm. The rescued dogs are then placed into foster homes or "foster with intent to adopt" homes until they are permanently placed with their new forever homes. Arizona Golden Rescue is a "non-shelter rescue" with all dogs staying in foster homes until adopted.

Arizona Golden Rescue participates in several fund-raising events, including PACC911 (Phoenix Animal Care Coalition) “adopt-a-thons” and other meet-and-greet opportunities. Members march in the Glendale Hometown Christmas Parade in December and the Scottsdale Parada del Sol Parade in February. Its annual large fund-raiser event each fall is the Fore! Paws annual golf tournament. Because veterinary costs far outweigh adoption fees, fundraising is a critical part of its organizational activities. Information on membership, available dogs, success stories and past newsletters are available at arizonagoldenrescue.org.
