An investigation is underway after a 34-year-old man died this weekend while in the custody of Phoenix officers, police said.
Officers responded shortly before 4:10 p.m. June 28 to 44th Street and Thomas Road after receiving a report about a man acting erratically. Devin Alford was reported to be “rolling on the ground and hurting himself,” according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
Alford was handcuffed to keep him from continuing to harm himself, police said. A short time later he was unresponsive.
