Some local business leaders believe potential U.S. tariffs against countries such as Mexico and Canada could be a negotiation tactic rather than an inevitability once President-Elect Donald Trump takes office.
This week, Trump posted on Truth social a plan that would charge 25% tariffs on any good coming from Mexico or Canada with another 10% tacked on for goods from China.
The post included references to closing the border and stemming the amount of fentanyl flowing into the U.S., according to the Associated Press.
