Arizona Black Rodeo ropes in thousands of fans

The Arizona Black Rodeo trotted through Scottsdale, rounding up more than bucking calves, bulls, and broncos as family and friends met for the cultural corral promoted as the “Hottest Show on Dirt.”

For those who missed the 13th annual Black rodeo shows held Friday evening, Sept. 1, plus a matinee and 7 p.m. performance Saturday, Sept. 2, at WestWorld of Scottsdale, 16601 N. Pima Road, there is still an opportunity to catch the next and last stop on the trail scheduled Oct. 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lanette Campbell, Arizona Black Rodeo producer, began taking the shows on the road in 2022 after noticing a consistent, overwhelming interest in celebrating African-American history/culture, coupled with people’s desires to make memories and be part of the local/cultural history that abounds within the greater Phoenix community.
