Arizona Attorney General files charges against former Glendale police officer

Aggravated assault charges stem from 2017 incident

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office on Thursday filed charges against former Glendale Police Officer Matthew Schneider.

The charges stem from a 2017 incident when Schneider faced accusations of excessive force after he used a Taser on Johnny Wheatcroft 11 times, including in the groin area, according to a complaint.

Court records show the Arizona Attorney General’s Office is charging Schneider with three counts of aggravated assault, which are all Class 6 felonies.
