Arizona AG closes investigation into Gilbert records complaint

The Arizona Attorney General's Office has determined that allegations a Gilbert Police Department employee improperly withheld and knowingly destroyed public records are unsubstantiated and has closed its investigation, according to a town email sent Wednesday.

The email from Gilbert Communications Officer Brenda Carrasco said the Attorney General's Office notified the town this week that it found no evidence to support allegations involving the handling of public records.

According to the town, Gilbert police requested an independent review of the complaint from resident Charisia Arnold by the Attorney General's Office in February because of the seriousness of the allegations and to ensure an impartial investigation.
