Scenic hillsides and open desert dotted with Saguaros, creosote bush and other plants are a draw for many living in Goodyear communities like Estrella, but with the serenity of life outside the asphalt jungle comes responsibility.
“We’re surrounded by quite a bit of desert,” Fire Capt. Manny Cordova said recently as he stood in the bay at Station 182, discussing why being prepared is critical.
The veteran firefighter, who has served 14 years with Goodyear Fire, knows all too well the responsbilities of being prepared.
