APS sets new peak energy demand record

Arizona Public Service customers set an all-time peak energy demand record over the weekend, preliminary figures show.

The record was set between 6 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, APS officials said Tuesday.

The utility announced 9,164 megawatts were used during that time, noting one megawatt of energy is enough to serve about 160 Arizona homes.
