APS seeks rate jump

Public comment taken in June

Like the old game of dog pile, Arizona Public Service officials joined other utilities in seeking higher rates to customers.

The electric utility’s leaders filed an application with the Arizona Corporation Commission Oct. 28, 2022 that calls for rates, charges and schedules that would result, if approved, in annual revenue increases for $772.27 million for the company. While actual impacts to customers could vary depending on electricity use and the plan selected, APS officials estimate residential customers would see a 22.79% increase in their monthly electric bill.

According to utility officials, customers on the Time of Use Weekday plan would see a 25% increase in base service charges, about a 24% increase for on-peak energy charges and about a 22.4% rise for off-peak. Those on the super off-peak plan, the increase would be 16.1%.
