General Plan Amendment

Apartments planned adjacent to A.T. Still University in Mesa

Planning and zoning board votes 4-3 to recommend approval

Changing 10 acres from a medical campus General Plan designation to allow for apartments near A.T. Still University should be approved, the Mesa Planning and Zoning Board decided recently in a split vote.

The board voted 4-3 at a special meeting Nov. 22 to recommend that the city council approve a minor General Plan amendment for the property west of Recker Road on the north side of Baseline Road. Dissenting were Chair Jeffrey Crockett and board members Shelly Allen and Jeff Pitcher.

Approving the change will help A.T. Still University, 5850 E. Still Circle, expand in the area, board member Jessica Sarkissian said prior to the vote.
