Apache Junction’s social media engagement explained to council

A city employee hired to create, design, write and edit digital content for Apache Junction’s social media platforms has been posting videos, showing local businesses and wildlife, and engaging followers with bimonthly challenges, the City Council was told in a recent presentation.

The first competition — or challenge — was for photos of the Superstition Mountains, with more than 100 submissions, Digital Communications Specialist Jorge Gutierrez said during the Apache Junction City Council’s Aug. 14 work session.

“So, to take the best picture you have of the Superstition Mountains and we get to really commemorate the mountains and showcase what our community has to offer. And we had a lot of participants and it was a really good way to engage with our audience and get people involved and talking about AJ,” Gutierrez said.
