Apache Junction recreational marijuana regulations discussed

Council to vote on approving dispensaries, denying cultivation, testing

Where to allow recreational marijuana dispensaries in Apache Junction and other zoning regulations are to be considered by the City Council at a meeting in July.

Proposition 207, approved by voters in November 2020, allows adults 21 and older to possess and use specified amounts of marijuana and permits growth of a limited number of marijuana plants at a person’s residence in an enclosed, locked area not visible from public view.

The proposition also establishes the Arizona Department of Health Services as the regulatory authority to issue licenses to establishments for the sale of recreational marijuana.
