Apache Junction police recruits to be trained by Maricopa County sheriff’s academy

Eight new officers to be hired for the Apache Junction Police Department are set to go to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Basic Training Academy.

AJPD does not have its own training academy.

A resolution authorizing the city to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with Maricopa County was approved recently in a unanimous council vote, with six on the dais and Councilwoman Robin Baker by phone. The resolution states MCSO will provide AJPD training for its recruits in accordance with the state of Arizona Peace Officer Standard Training regulations.
