FLOCK INVESTIGATION

Apache Junction police officer resigns after probe into license plate reader cameras

An internal investigation found a former Apache Junction police officer misused Flock automated license plate reader cameras in an attempt to find his wife during a dispute, authorities said Monday.

The department was notified by the Casa Grande Police Department about the misuse on April 19 after Joshua McDaniels reported a welfare check to them and mentioned that he used Flock technology to track his wife’s car to the city, Apache Junction Police Chief Michael Pooley said during a news conference on Monday.

Pooley said that McDaniels resigned following the conclusion of the investigation two weeks ago. Had he not, the chief said, he would have been fired.
