Apache Junction High School Drama Club to travel to NYC

The Apache Junction High School Drama Club will travel to New York City during spring break to attend live theater performances such as “That Play That Goes Wrong,” “Back to the Future,” “Spamalot” and “Wicked.”

The Apache Junction Unified School District board recently voted unanimously to approve the March 8-13 trip where no district funds will be used.

“This would be similar to the trip we’ve done for the last — it’s been like 10 years, that we’ve done every other year,” Paul Lanphear, drama teacher/director at Apache Junction High School, told the board during its Dec. 12 meeting. “So it gives the kids an opportunity to go to New York to not only see professional Broadway productions, because you can see multiple shows within a week unlike here where you can see one every so many weeks; as well as to workshop with professionals, do some tours around New York.”
