How to regulate businesses selling recreational marijuana in Apache Junction will be discussed at meetings Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
The move is in response to Arizona voters on Nov. 3 passing Proposition 207, the Smart and Safe Arizona Act, a citizen initiative relating to the responsible adult use, regulation and taxation of marijuana.
The Apache Junction City Council on Nov. 17 discussed the new law, but did not direct city staff members to create an ordinance relating to the regulation of recreational marijuana. The council voted unanimously to continue the discussion to the next work session and meeting.
