Anti-Axon group gathers over 26,000 signatures to try and send headquarters plan to referendum

California-based union the muscle behind signature gathering campaign

The effort to keep law enforcement and security technology company Axon from building 1,895 apartments as part of its new world headquarters campus in north Scottsdale took a step forward Dec. 21.

Former Scottsdale City Council member Bob Littlefield, dressed in a Santa Claus suit, delivered to city hall almost 27,000 signatures requesting the rezoning of the land for the campus be put on a ballot as a referendum.

Littlefield, husband to current city council member Kathy Littlefield and chair of the Taxpayers Against Awful Apartment Zoning Exemptions political action committee, needed 15,135 signatures.
