Ann R. Reynolds

Ann R. Reynolds, died on Monday, January 21, 2019, at the McClure Miller Respite House, in Colchester, VT, at the age of 82. She was born on July 17, 1936, in Oscoda, MI, to Ruth (Heginbottom) McNichol and Hamilton L. McNichol.Ann graduated from Oscoda High School in June, 1954. Soon afterward, she began her college education at Central Michigan University, eventually earning an Associates Degree through Alpena Community College.After meeting James W. Reynolds, a young airman stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, on a double blind date (he was the other girl's date), Ann married him on March 2, 1957. She followed her new husband to Alaska, then returned with him to Oscoda following his discharge in 1959. Three children followed over the next six years. After her children were raised, Ann worked for five years as a coordinator with Community Mental Health supporting adults with developmental disabilities live independently in the community, and for seven years as a coordinator for Trio Council on Aging providing services to the elderly.As a volunteer for the Oscoda Baptist Church, Ann especially looked forward every summer to working with children at day camp.In 2007, after several years as snowbirds, Ann moved with Jim to Sun City West, AZ, where she found a new church community at Palm West Community Church.She returned with Jim to East Tawas, Michigan, in June 2018, where she enjoyed time with dear friends and her beloved Lake Huron.After Jim's death in August, and a recurrence of colon cancer, Ann moved to Vermont to be near her oldest daughter. She spent a joyful Christmas with her children and grandchildren, delighted by the cold and the beauty and abundance of the snow.Ann is survived by her children: Lynn (Alan Homans) of Huntington, VT, Cathy (Murray Zichlinsky) of Anaheim, CA, and Paul (Mari) of Huntington Beach, CA; her granddaughters: Emma Homans, Sophie Homans, Kara Reynolds, and Holly Reynolds; her brothers, Hamilton D. (Carolyn) McNichol, of Oscoda, MI, and James (Sandra) McNichol, of Little Elm, TX; her brothers-in-law, Paul Eugene Reynolds of Plainfield, IL and Ronald (Deborah Richie) Reynolds of Champaign, IL; and many nieces and nephews.Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Hamilton; her sister, Elizabeth Campbell; and her sister-in-law, Betty (Eugene) Reynolds.A private memorial service will be held by the family in Michigan at a later date.
