Amkor, TSMC strike deal strengthening Peoria’s place in semiconductor supply chain

10-year agreement will ‘enhance advanced semiconductor packaging capabilities in Arizona’

Amkor Technology and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. have struck a deal that will strengthen Peoria’s place as a major player in the north Valley’s semiconductor industry.

The companies announced a 10-year agreement to enhance advanced semiconductor packaging capabilities in the area, “strengthening and accelerating investment in the U.S. semiconductor supply chain ecosystem,” a news release stated.

TSMC is the world’s largest contract manufacturer of semiconductor chips, and with their Phoenix fab located near Loop 303 and Interstate 17, the agreement will ensure Amkor, which is building a 750,000-square-foot plant nearby in north Peoria, will package and test microchips that benefit customers “across a broad range of end markets.”
