Amkor breaks ground on $7B complex in Peoria

Initial facility planned to be completed mid-2027, production expected early 2028

Amkor Technology’s existence in Peoria hit a milestone Oct. 6 with  a groundbreaking that officials say will lead to a bright future for the city and state as a tech leader.

The Peoria event coincided with SEMICON West at the Phoenix Convention Center, for which thousands of semiconductor industry professionals descended upon the Valley, highlighting Arizona’s growing role as a semiconductor manufacturing hub.

The groundbreaking brings Peoria closer to the city and Amkor’s promise to bring up to 3,000 jobs into town. It also expands Amkor’s investment with 750,000 square feet of cleanroom space and a second greenfield packaging and test facility, increasing total project investment into the area by more than $5 billion, to a total of $7 billion across two phases.
