DISCRIMINATION

Amid deadline, school districts address new Title IX regulations

Acceptance, pushback coming from various Valley districts

New federal regulations that expand the definition of what qualifies as discrimination on the basis of sex are set to take effect Aug. 1, and some local entities are saying schools and districts should consult legal counsel.

The hot-button issue has been a topic at school board meetings across the Valley. With the expanded rules, it could get hotter.
