After a couple of major electrical disasters, the American Legion Post 44 — which bills itself as the best damn post in the west — is swinging again.
Between bingo on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, big band night on Wednesdays and karaoke on Fridays as well as other events, the Post, located at 7145 E. Second St. in Old Town, is averaging as many as 500 people per week using the old hall.
“It’s a lot busier than people might realize,” said Greg Sternitzke, the post’s chairman of the fundraising committee.
