Alley fight leads to shooting death in central Phoenix

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a shooting in a central Phoenix alley that left a man dead on Wednesday night.

Officers responded about 11:30 p.m. June 18 to an alley near 17^th Drive and Lane Avenue regarding an assault and shooting.

They found a man, who has not been identified, with at least one gunshot wound. He died at a hospital, police said, adding another man was detained at the scene.

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a shooting in a central Phoenix alley that left a man dead on Wednesday night.

Officers responded about 11:30 p.m. June 18 to an alley near 17^th Drive and Lane Avenue regarding an assault and shooting.

They found a man, who has not been identified, with at least one gunshot wound. He died at a hospital, police said, adding another man was detained at the scene.

He told police he was involved in a fight with the victim that ended in the shooting, according to a release. He was released pending the results of an investigation.
