Born on March 5, 1918, Al was preceded in death by Ruth, his wife of 68 years; and his youngest daughter, Nancy Sepulveda. He is survived by a loving son and daughter, Harvey Miles Gammon and Patricia Gammon Lee. Born in Perth, Kansas, Al attended UCLA, joined the Army Air Force, and became a bomber pilot during W.W.II and the Korean War, completed his degree from San Francisco State, and retired from the U.S.A.F. as a Lt Colonel. Following the war he joined the C.A.A. in the Western Region and had an illustrious career with the F.A.A. and U.S. State Dept. where he retired with the highest non-political classification. He survived two plane crashes during the war, and was the only surviving plane across the Atlantic when the rest of his squadron was lost in weather. He had assignments in Turkey, Argentina, Afghanistan, and Belgium, and his adventurous spirit led him to driving his car from Kabul to Dublin collecting coins along the way. Al was an avid golfer until age 93, ran many tournaments and achieved the honor of a hole in one. He had a full life and will be missed.
