Seven 77-passenger buses costing more than a combined $1 million that were purchased by the Apache Junction Unified School District could be delivered as soon as November.
The AJUSD Governing Board on July 13 voted unanimously to pay $1,021,641.46 with Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds for the buses from Phoenix-based dealership RWC International. Each bus is to have air-conditioning, a camera system and an extended warranty, according to a quote from RWC Group.
The district received $5,111,069.81 from an ESSER fund, which is from the federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act signed into law on Dec. 27.
